This is an international trade in human misery.  ibid.

Sex trafficking is one of the hardest crimes to prove as the victims are often too scared to come forward.  ibid.

The potential link to organised crime and trafficking means the case is escalated and handed over to a high-level covert unit.  ibid.

Across the UK organised crime groups are running pop-up brothels on an industrial scale.  Taken: Hunting the Sex Traffickers II

RAAS is one of a growing number of black civil rights organisations that emerge in the 1960s.  With Michael at the helm, it soon gains a high profile.  By 1967 Michael X is the most high profile black activist in Britain and claims to have some 60,000 followers of his RAS Organisation.  ibid.

In 1890 an incident occurs in these back streets that reveals a phenomenon that will rock Victorian society and lead to the explosion of organised crime in Britain … The first time that the term Peaky Blinders is used and the legend is born.  The Real Peaky Blinders, BBC 2022

The real Peaky Blinders go on to become the godfathers of organised crime in the 1920s.  But their origins stretch back 50 years earlier to the 1870s.  These young men aren’t focussed on money-making, they are waging street war for status.  The gangs erupt from Birmingham backstreets where they face poverty and racism.  This is the story of the rise and fall of Britain’s first modern mass gang movement who change our cities for ever.  ibid.

By trawling the records of hundreds of Peaky Blinders it’s clear that the early Peakies are a Birmingham-wide phenomenon.  ibid.

From the 1870s Birmingham is the industrial heart of the greatest manufacturing nation on the planet.  But the price is high.  Charles Dickens describes the city as ‘a vision of hell’.  Life expectancy is below 45 years.  ibid.

Women also play a role in the real Peaky Gang’s activities.  ibid.
