★ Jesus Christ (II)

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.  Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.  I Peter 1:7

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God.  Revelation 7:9-11

Of those messengers, some of whom We have caused to excel others, and of whom there are some unto whom Allah spake, while some of them He exalted (above others) in degree; and We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear proofs (of Allahs Sovereignty) and We supported him with the holy Spirit.  And if Allah had so wiled it, those who followed after them would not have fought one with another after the clear proofs had come unto them.  But they differed, some of them believing and some disbelieving.  And if Allah had so willed it, they would not have fought one with another; but Allah doeth what He will.  Koran 2:253

And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allahs messenger – they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.

But Allah took him up unto Himself.  Allah was ever Mighty, Wise.

O People of the Scripture!  Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth.  The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him.  So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not Three – Cease!  (it is) better for you! – Allah is only One God.  Far is it removed from His Transcendent Majesty that He should have a son.  His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth.  And Allah is sufficient as Defender.  Koran 4:157&158&171

They indeed have disbelieved who say: Lo!  Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary.  Say: Who then can do aught against Allah, if He had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth?  Allahs is the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them.  He createth what He will.  And Allah is Able to do all things.  Koran 5:17

The Messiah, son of Mary, was no other than a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) had passed away before him.  And his mother was a saintly woman.  And they both used to eat (earthly) food.  See how We make the revelations clear for them, and see how they are turned away!

When Allah saith: O Jesus, son of Mary!  Remember My favour unto thee and unto thy mother; how I strengthened thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the Scripture and Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of a bird by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and thou didst heal him who was born blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou didst raise the dead by My permission; and how I restrained the Children of Israel from (harming) thee when thou camest unto them with clear proofs, and those of them who disbelieved exclaimed: This is naught else than mere magic;

And when I inspired the disciples, (saying): Believe in Me and in My messenger, they said: We believe.  Bear witness that we have surrendered (unto Thee) We are Muslims.

When the disciples said: O Jesus, son of Mary!  Is thy Lord able to send down for us a table spread with food from heaven?  He said: Observe your duty to Allah, if ye are true believers.

(They said:) We wish to eat thereof, that we may satisfy our hearts and know that thou hast spoken truth to us, and that thereof we may be witnesses.

Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah, Lord of us!  Send down for us a table spread with food from heaven, that it may be a feast for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and a sign from Thee.  Give us sustenance, for Thou art the Best of Sustainers.  Koran 5:75&110-114

The Originator of the heavens and the earth!  How can He have a child, when there is for Him no consort, when He created all things and is Aware of all things?  Koran 6:101

A mention of the mercy of thy Lord unto His servant Zachariah.

When he cried unto his Lord a cry in secret,

Saying: My Lord!  Lo! the bones of me wax feeble and my head is shining with grey hair, and I have never been unblest in prayer to Thee, my Lord.

Lo!  I fear my kinsfolk after me, since my wife is barren.  Oh, give me from Thy presence a successor

Who shall inherit of me and inherit (also) of the house of Jacob.  And make him, my Lord, acceptable (unto Thee).

(It was said unto him): O Zachariah!  Lo!  We bring thee tidings of a son whose name is John; we have given the same name to none before (him).

He said: My Lord!  How can I have a son when my wife is barren and I have reached infirm old age?

He said: So (it will be).  Thy Lord saith: It is easy for Me, even as I created thee before, when thou wast naught.

He said: My Lord!  Appoint for me some token.  He said: Thy token is that thou, with no bodily defect, shalt not speak unto mankind three nights.

Then he came forth unto his people from the sanctuary, and signified to them: Glorify your Lord at break of day and fall of night.

(And it was said unto his son): O John!  Hold fast the Scripture.  And we gave him wisdom when a child,

And compassion from Our presence, and purity; and he was devout.  Koran 19:2-13

For behold, it came to pass after my father had made an end of speaking the words of his dream, and also of exhorting them to all diligence, he spake unto them concerning the Jews –

That after they should be destroyed, even that great city Jerusalem, and many be carried away captive into Babylon, according to the own due time of the Lord, they should return again, yea, even be brought back out of captivity; and after they should be brought back out of captivity they should possess again the land of their inheritance.

Yea, even six hundred years from the time that my father left Jerusalem, a prophet would the Lord God raise up among the Jews – even a Messiah, or, in other words, a Savior of the world. Book of Mormon I Nephi 10:2-4

And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the great city of Jerusalem, and also other cities.  And I beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white.

And it came to pass that I saw the heavens open; and an angel came down and stood before me; and he said unto me: Nephi, what beholdest thou?

And I said unto him: A virgin, most beautiful and fair above all other virgins.

And he said unto me: Knowest thou the condescension of God?

And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.

And he said unto me: Behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God, after the manner of the flesh.

And it came to pass that I beheld that she was carried away in the Spirit; and after she had been carried away in the Spirit for the space of a time the angel spake unto me, saying: Look!

And I looked and beheld the virgin again, bearing a child in her arms.

And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father!  Knowest thou the meaning of the tree which thy father saw?

And I answered him, saying: Yea, it is the love of God, which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore, it is the most desirable above all things.

And he spake unto me, saying: Yea, and the most joyous to the soul.

And after he had said these words, he said unto me: Look!  And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God going forth among the children of men; and I saw many fall down at his feet and worship him.

And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod of iron, which my father had seen, was the word of God, which led to the fountain of living waters, or to the tree of life; which waters are a representation of the love of God; and I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation of the love of God.

And the angel said unto me again: Look and behold the condescension of God!

And I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world, of whom my father had spoken; and I also beheld the prophet who should prepare the way before him.  And the Lamb of God went forth and was baptized of him; and after he was baptized, I beheld the heavens open, and the Holy Ghost come down out of heaven and abide upon him in the form of a dove.
