In the presence of this Court, the patient looked at her feet and refused to recognise the obvious fact that the flesh was dead, black, shrivelled, rotting and stinking.  The record also discloses that the patient refuses to consider the eventuality of death which is or ought to be obvious in the face of such dire bodily deterioration.  Judge Todd, State of Tennessee v Northern (1978) 563 SW 2d 197 (Tenn Ct App)

The incredible natural engineering that carries our weight and drives every step we take.  Dr George McGavin, Dissected: Foot, BBC 2014

Keeping them warm and keeping them in shoes has added to the strain we put on them.  ibid.

Vancouver, British Columbia: famous for staging the 2010 Winter Olympics but infamous for a series of grizzly and mysterious discoveries.  On August 20th 2007 on Jededia Island near Vancouver a young girl taking a walk on a beach made a terrifying discovery.  Then on November 12th 2008 a couple walking their dog just a few kilometres away in Richmond discovered something equally horrific.  But curiosity turned to fear when they looked inside.  What was inside the shoe wasn’t animal flesh: it was a human foot.  Two Vancouver beaches: two unrelated feet.  Weird or What? s1e1: Strange Survival, Discovery 2010

As more trainers washed up, news of this macabre mystery quickly spread fear throughout the region.  In little over two years a total of seven feet washed up on beaches in close proximity to Vancouver: five right feet, two left, all wearing trainers.  ibid.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings.  Isaiah 52:7

When ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.  Matthew 10:14

Lord, dost thou wash my feet?  John 13:6

Perhaps one of the only positive pieces of advice that I was ever given was that supplied by an old courtier who observed: Only two rules really count.  Never miss an opportunity to relieve yourself; never miss a chance to sit down and rest your feet.  Edward VIII

I let my feet spend as little time on the ground as possible.  From the air, fast down, and from the ground, fast up.  Jesse Owens

I had no shoes, and I felt sorry for myself until I met a man who had no feet.  I took his shoes.  Now I feel better.  George Carlin, When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? 2004

I just wonder what would have happened if the shirt had been on the other foot.  Mike Walker, football commentary

He’s not a lad that likes to stand on his feet.  Chris Waddle

The ball was literally glued to the back of his foot, into the back of the net.  Alan Parry

Unfortunately, we keep kicking ourselves in the foot.  Ray Wilkins

Hell hath no fury like a woman’s corn.  Mike Leigh, The Short & Curlies 1987 starring Alison Steadman, Clive’s response to Joy’s aching feet
