Babylon in all its desolation is a sight not so awfyl as that of the human mind in ruins.  Scrope Davies, c.1783-1852

Despite Josiahs reforms the ancient Israelites continue to worship other gods.  Their acceptance of one god and the triumph of monotheism begins with a series of events vividly attested through archaeology, ancient texts and the Bible.  It starts with the destruction of Yahwehs earthly dwelling, The Jerusalem Temple.  In 586 B.C. after defeating the Assyrians a new Mesopotamian empire invades Israel.  The Babylonians ransack the Temple and systematically burn the sacred city.  Before his eyes the Babylonian victors slay the sons of Zedechiah, the last Davidic king, then blind him.  The Covenant, the promise made by Yahweh to his chosen people and to David that his dynasty would rule eternally in Jerusalem, is broken.  After four-hundred years Israel is wiped out.  The Babylonians round up the Israelite priests, prophets and scribes and drag them in chains to Babylon.  Babylonian records confirm the presence of Israelites including the king in exile.  Bibles Buried Secrets 2/2

That great city Mystery Babylon ... That great city that encompasses the whole world with its banking and corporate.  And commercial status.  Commercial Babylon.  Mystery Babylon.  On the one hand we have then the world rulers who give all of their control and power to the Beast, who is controlled of course by Satan the Dragon behind the scenes.  And we know then we have these Illuminati, these men who work with the Anti-Christ and with Satan.  And then we have their system, the world-wide system, all of the governments of the world.  Texe Marrs, Babylon Illuminati Secret Society Empire

Its a system of sorcery, witchcraft and magic.  But Kabbalah comes all the way back from Babylon, and it was Babylonian magic of the worst kind.  Texe Marrs

But by around 620 B.C. references to the most important artefact in the Jewish religion had simply ceased ... But three decades after that, in 587 B.C. came another crisis ... The city and its temple were overrun and looted by Babylonians, led by the famous Nebuchadnezzar.  The Bible Uncovered: Hunt for the Ark

When they relocated in Rome to form the Roman Empire and Church, the Roman Church, what we call Christianity was merely the Church of Babylon relocated.  David Icke, lecture Brixton Academy

Babylon was also known as Rome.  Dave Hunt, A Woman Rides the Beast; viz also novel

There is one other city in the world – and only one – which is a spiritual entity and could therefore commit spiritual fornication with the kings of the Earth and it’s built on seven hills.  That city is Rome, the headquarters of Roman Catholicism.  ibid.

From John’s vision these four criteria: being a city, known as Babylon, built on seven hills, that committed spiritual fornication with Earth rulers.  ibid.

The collapse of the Tower of Babel is perhaps the central urban myth. It is certainly the most disquieting.  In Babylon, the great city that fascinated and horrified the Biblical writers, people of different races and languages, drawn together in pursuit of wealth, tried for the first time to live together – and failed.  Neil MacGregor

The rediscovery of Nebuchadnezzar’s world began a hundred years ago in Lebanon.  The Babylon Mystery: Nebuchadnezzar, Discovery 2014

The kingdom ruled by Nebuchadnezzar benefited from the influence of the two great rivers – the Euphrates and the Tigris.  ibid.

The Sumerian people created an entirely new culture heralded by a revolutionary development – the invention of cuniform script three thousand years before Christ and the cultural growth that resulted from the invention of a written language was to reach its pinnacle in Nebuchadnezzar’s vast empire of Babylon.  ibid.

The Babylonians scaled the walls of the city [Jerusalem] with the help of fortified towers.  ibid.

Even today experts estimate that thousands of texts are still hidden beneath the ground in Babylon.  ibid.

The Tower of Babel – today all that can be seen is a pond ... The Tower of Babel was not a round tower, but a square structure.  ibid.

The Babylonians invented astrology as we know it today.  ibid.

A controversial new theory ... the exact location of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.  Since it was built nearly 3,000 years ago no-one has found a single trace.  Secret History: Finding Babylon’s Hanging Garden, Channel 4 2013

Gardens built by a king to demonstrate his mastery over Nature.  ibid.

Babylon 1595 B.C.: A mysterious new army has struck Babylon without warning.  Spreading terror throughout the city.  With ruthless efficiency these dark warriors of Hattusa would go on to destroy anything in their way.  Their mission: to become the greatest empire the world had ever seen.  Yet once they had succeeded this ruthless army and the vast empire they had created simply disappeared as mysteriously as they had emerged.  Lost Cities of the Ancients: The Dark Side of Hattusha, BBC 2012

In 1851 in what is now known as Iraq archaeologist and explorer Sir Austen Henry Layard discovered a library with 22,000 tablets containing what we know to be the earliest writings of man.  The writings date back to over 6,000 years ago when the region was known as Mesopotamia, Sumer and Babylon.  Amongst these vast writings is a story which mirrors the Book of Genesis.  It contains the story of a great flood ... One of these scrolls includes a star map of what appears to be a sun and planets ...  Includes a tenth planet in an orbit between Mars and Jupiter ... They described the Anunnaki as a reptilian race of gods which came to the Earth from fiery ships from their home planet of Nibiru ... The story of reptilians gods from the heavens creating man is not at all uncommon.  It in fact can be found in almost every region of our planet.  Your World is Changing

The Anunnaki alien star-gods were often shown holding pine-cones.  The Vatican’s most famous icons also hold pine-cones acknowledging the Anunnaki brotherhood ... The Vatican uses Ancient Anunnaki and Babylonian symbolism in all its ceremonies ... Britain is full of symbols of the Anunnaki reptilian brotherhood.  Chris Everard, Secret Space II

Damascus ... They became masters at managing and manipulating numbers ... You can blame those ancient Babylonians for all those tortuous problems you had at school.  Professor Marcus du Sautoy, The Story of Maths I, BBC 2008

They were using powers of sixty.  ibid.

The Babylonia calendar was based on the cycles of the moon.  ibid.

The use of Quadratic Equations: one of the greatest legacies of Babylonian mathematics.  ibid.

The Babylonians worshipped Dagon in a temple … Could this be Sirius B?  Ancient Aliens s12e4: The Star Gods of Sirius, History 2020

The Tower of Babel: It’s one of the most dramatic stories in the Bible.  It tells of the construction of a vertigo-inducing Tower that reaches to heaven.  Babel: The Real Stairway to Heaven, Channel 5 2020

Experts now believe they know where the legendary Tower once stood.  Could these be the remains of one of the greatest lost wonders of the ancient world?  ibid.

King Nebuchadnezzar II: a ruler whose ambitions for Babylon that were on a scale that dwarfed any other city of its time.  ibid.

The ‘Esagila’ Tablet [Louvre] reveals the dimensions for an entire structure.  But was it actually possible to build a 90-metre Tower in Babylon, a city that was made almost entirely of mud bricks?  ibid.

All the evidence suggests it was a Ziggurat design.  ibid.

Babylon: The discovery of the foundations of a vast structure which ancient records suggest could have been the Tower of Babel.  ibid.
