Three men strapped inside the most powerful rocket ever built are setting off on an epic journey that will change the world below for ever. The voyage of Apollo 11 will revolutionise science, inspire pop culture, and will make astronaut Neil Armstrong more famous than the Beatles. The Day We Walked on the Moon, ITV 2019
The rockets will have special warheads – they will contain Bubonic Plague and Strontium 90. If it succeeds it will be the end of Israel. The Odessa File 1974 starring Jon Voight & Maximilian Schell & Maria Schell & Mary Tamm & Derek Jacobi & Peter Jeffrey & Klaus Lowitsch & Kurt Meisel & Gunter Meisner & Hannes Messemer & Garfield Morgan & Shmuel Rodensky & Ernst Schroder et al, director Ronald Neame, general in desert
Nasser did seek to perfect a strike force of 400 rockets to wipe Israel off the face of the map. His key scientists were mostly from Hitler’s former rocket programme. ibid. caption
Wernher von Braun was an SS Officer and rocket scientist. His team at Peenemunde designed the first cruise missile – the VI doodlebug. The V2 rocket was the forerunner to the Saturn V rocket which would supposedly take man to the moon. At the end of World War II the American government were desperate to get hold of the Nazi rocket weapons which had wrought havoc on the innocent people of Britain. The American government launched Project Paperclip which secretly changed the war criminal files on Wernher von Braun and his colleagues. Files which described these SS officers as an ardent Nazi were changed to read not an ardent Nazi. Chris Everard, Secret Space
NASA could not risk the public humiliation of having brave astronauts crashing to their deaths on the lunar surface broadcast on live TV. NASA’s Nazis knew that a major catastrophic failure on the moon would cause the billions of dollars of funding to be immediately cut. Anyone with the most elementary grasp of science could tell that the Saturn V rockets were merely big versions of the Nazi’s V2 killing machines. ibid.
Morton Thiokol, Utah. The first in a series of tests at the redesigned solid rocket. Horizon: The Diary of Discovery, BBC 1988
They are using a dummy to test a new escape system. ibid.
The human race has constantly endeavoured to extend its reach, and now it’s heading for the final frontier. From an outpost on the moon to a fully fledged colony on Mars. We’re building the rockets that will transport us there. And the machines we’ll need to survive. The Universe s2e13: Colonising Space, History 2008
Challenger exploded seventy-three seconds into flight in the skies above Florida. A fault in one of the solid rocket boosters caused the catastrophic failure. Dr Kevin Fong, Space Shuttle: The Final Frontier, BBC 2011
Just six months ago 190 engineers perished when a rocket misfired. Rocket design is still in its infancy. Days that Shook the World s2e6: Reach For the Stars, BBC 2004
In the 1920s space pioneer Robert Goddard invented liquid fuel rockets. Dara O’Briain’s Science Club IV, BBC 2012
With the failure of the M1 rocket the Russians no longer had any hope of reaching the moon before the Americans. Jean Afanassieff, Tank on the Moon
That day more than a rocket went up in smoke. ibid.
Kaysing observed that despite the clarity of deep space the stars were missing from the black lunar sky. He saw the American flag waving, even though there is no air on the moon. And he discovered that there was no blast-crater beneath the lunar lander where its powerful rocket engine had fired. Conspiracy Theory: Moon Landing Hoax aka Did We Land on the Moon?
According to Kaysing, the launch of Apollo Saturn 5 rocket was real, it just never sent astronauts to the moon. ibid.
During Project Apollo six highly complex manned craft landed on the moon, took off and returned to Earth. An 86% success rate. Since Project Apollo twenty-five simple unmanned craft have attempted to fulfil their missions to Mars. Only seven succeeded. A mere 28% success rate. What Happened on the Moon? 2000
How would it be possible to hear astronauts’ voices against the background of a running rocket engine? Bill Kaysing
In the footage of the ascent stage going up, what you don’t see is an exhaust plume coming out of the rocket engine nozzle. But what do we see? We see the ascent stage suddenly pop up without any exhaust plume whatsoever, as though it were jerked by a cable. Bill Kaysing
It was Wernher von Braun who first realised the race to the moon must be entertaining. A show. After several meetings with Walt Disney an idea took shape. Only Hollywood, the dream factory itself, could transform a dull rocket launch that no-one took any notice of into a mega-production. And Stanley Kubrick was about to convince the last doubters. The famous director, working closely with NASA, had started to shoot 2001 A Space Odyssey. Dark Side of the Moon, 2002
The brute force of rockets ... But are manned space flights really a recent phenomenon? Or could our ancient ancestors have witnessed similar events? Ancient Aliens s2e6: Alien Tech, History 2010
Could early man really have known about rocket technology? ibid.
Do the descriptions of rockets and UFOs found in ancient texts and legends provide evidence of extraterrestrial encounters in the distant past? ibid.
At about 6.30 p.m. on 8th September Londoners heard a huge double boom. A massive pall rose above Chiswick in west London ... A new revenge weapon: the V-2 rocket. Secrets of World War II e17: The RAF versus the V2, 1998
Scientists and technicians at Peenemunde pressed ahead with the rocket program. ibid.
At first Britain’s air defences were stretched to the limit ... Of the 4,000 V1s eventually brought down over southern England about half were brought down by artillery coordinated by radar. ibid.
The rocket had been designed at the cutting edge of technology. Its gyroscopic guidance system was far in advance of anything in the allied armoury and the electric tort, which drive the motors, was the smallest of its kind. But each V2 cost twenty times more than the V1 for just one ton of explosives. ibid.
Captured V weapons were displayed in Trafalgar Square. ibid.
The real winner in the story of the V weapons may have been Wernher von Braun. He surrendered to the Americans with his entire research team. ibid.
The Germans would fire over 9,500 V1s at southern England during the summer of 1944. Stephen Fry, Who Betrayed the Bombers Boys? Yesterday 2013
By the time the V1s reach the capital city, their fuel is used up and their engines die out. Londoners never know where they will fall. Nearly 20,000 of these missiles were launched against England and continental Europe killing 11,000 people. World War II: The Apocalypse: Retreat and Surrender aka Apocalypse: The Second World War: Inferno, France 2 2009
The Führer is far-sighted. He knows that the rocket is the weapon of tomorrow. London soon will stagger under the impact of 20,000 flying bombs. ibid.
The Fuhrer has ordered the total destruction of London. ibid.
We present the first footage of the V2 missile on its flight to England. For reasons of secrecy it has been filmed from a long distance and offers only a vague idea of the real dimensions of the V2. National Socialist propaganda film 1944
It was one of the largest projects in the history of mankind. The Third Reich’s bomb-proof factory ... Gigantic underground plants would have kept the supply chain running for the Wehrmacht. Armaments minister Albert Speer had devised the monstrous plan for his Führer. Today only a few may set foot in the remnants of the mammoth project. Hundreds of thousands of slave-labourers hollowed out entire mountains essential to the war effort. The Reich Underground: Terror From Below, Discovery 2003
Everywhere in the Third Reich the underground construction work was given the highest priority. ibid.
It was mostly slave-labourers who had to do the dirty work in the tunnels under inhuman conditions. ibid.
Inside the mountain the Nazis planned to build a total of thirty kilometres of passageways. By the end of the war almost half this distance had been blasted through the rock. ibid.
