★ Electromagnetism

Something far more dramatic – a solar flare.  ibid.

Until recently we believed that the space between the stars and planets was empty – a vacuum.  We now know it is teeming with charged particles.  We see glowing electric filaments spanning millions of light years.  Thunderbolts of the Gods, Wallace Thornhill, PSTV 2012

It is possible the predominant force in the universe is not gravity, but something else ... A new theory is being proposed ... It is in fact a synthesis of the disciplines ... The Electric Model offers us a new interpretation of the workings of the universe.  ibid.

The Electric universe on the other hand deals with the electric structure of matter at the atomic level and works its way up.  ibid.

Magnetic fields are threaded through space in all dimensions. ibid.

Scientists look at the portent of solar activity – sun spots.  They come and go in an eleven year cycle following changes in the Sun’s magnetic field.  Darker, cooler patches where a locally strong magnetic field prevents each from rising.  Prominences – huge arching columns of gas often hanging above sunspots supported by the Sun’s magnetic field.  Solar Empire: A Star is Born, Discovery 2001

At the nuclear heart it’s seventeen million degrees ... Massive filaments, loops of gas arching up over the surface ... Prominences: they curve up big enough to girdle the Earth ... Yet there’s a force that stops itself blowing itself to pieces: gravity.  It’s strong enough to keep the nuclear monster in check.  Our Secret Sun, Discovery 2001

Magnetism: that’s what shapes the Sun.  The patterns we see on the Sun are the same as the magnetic lines round a magnet on Earth.  ibid.

The sun-spots look dark because they are cooler than the rest of the Sun.  Spots form where the magnetism is strongest.  ibid.

New magnetic fields are constantly being created because rivers of plasma which are electrically charged flow at different speeds around the Sun.  The Sun’s rotation tangles these magnetic lines together forcing parts of them to emerge on the surface as dark spots and prominences that stick out from the surface.  Death of the Sun, 2006

Electric current, after passing into the earth travels to the diametrically opposite region of the same and rebounding from there, returns to its point of departure with virtually undiminished force.  The outgoing and returning currents clash and form nodes and loops similar to those observable on a vibrating cord.  To traverse the entire distance of about twenty-five thousand miles, equal to the circumference of the globe, the current requires a certain time interval, which I have approximately ascertained.  In yielding this knowledge, nature has revealed one of its most precious secrets, of inestimable consequence to man.  So astounding are the facts in this connection, that it would seem as though the Creator, himself, had electrically designed this planet just for the purpose of enabling us to achieve wonders which, before my discovery, could not have been conceived by the wildest imagination.  Nikola Tesla

The power of that explosion can cause the Sun to shudder.  As the magnetic loops break and explode billions of tons of hot gas come crashing into the surface causing a sun-quake.  Extreme Universe s1e5: Time Bombs, National Geographic 2010

Michael Faraday, the father of electricity ... He conducted most of his experiments into magnetism and electricity here at the Royal Institution.  And his practical demonstrations to a distinguished audience of fellow scientists and enthusiastic VIPs were the talk of the town.  Mark Williams, Industrial Revelations s2e7: Bright Sparks, Discovery 2005

The blueprint of the universe is drawn with magnetic lines.  Magnetic fields help stars ignite, they shape entire galaxies, and the same force that creates magnetism is the cement that holds all matter together.  How the Universe Works s4e8: Forces of Mass Construction, Discovery 2015

The force is known as electromagnetism.  Electromagnetism also sticks atoms together to form molecules.  And it sticks the molecules together to form us and everything around us.  (Universe & Magnetism & Electromagnetism)  ibid.

A blast from a magnetar could blow our atmosphere into space … Earth would become a lifeless ball of rock.  ibid.

Charged particles in gas clouds within the galaxy are directed along the spiral arms by magnetic fields.  Here the gas clouds are denser allowing star formation to take place.  (Universe & Magnetism & Electromagnetism)  ibid.

To construct a star you also need magnetism … The swirling gas and the forming star and its surrounding disc generate powerful magnetic fields.  How the Universe Works s5e1: Most Amazing Discoveries

The core of the star crushes inward supercharging its magnetism.  ibid.

Canneto di Caronia: 23rd December 2003: ‘The electric fuse box here, the whole thing burned … We had the whole electrical system in the house changed.  But things kept catching fire.’  The Unexplained Files, Discovery Channel 2013

Fires began breaking out across the village, all of them for no apparent reason.  ibid.

Mattresses and couches started to burst into flames.  ibid.

A new set of unexplained phenomena: ‘JSB drives and computers were malfunctioning.  Cars were locking and unlocking on their own.  Gates were opening.’  ibid.

Massive explosive bursts of electromagnetic energy.  ibid.

‘A military drill and possible experiments.’  ibid.  freelance journalist

‘At night you can easily spot lights coming from the sky or the sea.’  ibid.  resident

2004: a Sicilian fishing village experiences a series of shocking events: a fireball is observed shooting out of the ocean, and glowing UFOs are spotted moving across the horizon.  But events rapidly descend into chaos: over the space of weeks electrical appliances spontaneously combust causing a series of mysterious house fires.  The Italian government records more than 400 incidents in the village.  Residents are ordered to evacuate.  UFOs: The Untold Stories s1e6, National Geographic 2012-2013

Canneto di Caronia, Sicily, January 2004 4 a.m. and a local fisherman is working in the bay.  Suddenly, a dazzling object bursts through the waters but in seconds the object disappears … This sighting isn’t the first mysterious event to happen in the village.  ibid.

So what are these strange fireballs?  ibid.

Even with no power supplied to Canneto the mysterious fires continue.  ibid.
