Running late for a press conference Kennedy decided to take a short cut which took him through the hotel kitchens. One shot hit Kennedy in the shoulder; the other smashed through his skull. The attacker kept firing as he was wrestled to the floor. And three bystanders were injured. ibid.
Robert Kennedy was the third son of the immensely wealthy Joseph and Rose Kennedy. A millionaire by the time he was thirty Joseph Kennedy had taken his family from obscurity to enormous political influence in Boston ... In 1937 he [Joseph Kennedy] had been rewarded for his steadfast support of the Democratic Party when President Roosevelt made him ambassador to Britain. Kennedy had then earned widespread loathing by working actively with those attempting to appease Hitler. He then advised the US government during the fall of France that Britain was on the verge of collapse. Through the Blitz while Britain stood alone against Hitler he was reporting that her people didn’t have the stomach for a prolonged struggle. ibid.
Robert had been JFK’s campaign manager. By that time he had already attracted considerable national attention. And had made some bitter enemies. Shortly after graduating in law, Robert had served as Counsel to the Senate Committee investigating racketeering in the powerful Teamster’s union and links between it and the Mafia. ibid.
Sirhan claimed to have been tracking Robert Kennedy for more than a month ... Had the Senator been persuaded to walk into a trap? ... Some witnesses claim to have heard up to thirteen shots, far more than the eight Sirhan could have fired with his .22 pistol. It was claimed that the fatal shot came from the wrong angle, suggesting that there must have been a second gunman. A campaign worker claimed that during Kennedy’s speech she had gone out on to a balcony to get away from the smoke and heat. Two men and a girl wearing a polka-dot dress had pushed past her and slipped into the hall. After the shooting they had rushed out. The woman shouted, ‘We shot him!’ ibid.
For those who believe in the second gunman theory the failure to collect the security guard’s gun is just one of many inconsistencies they noticed in the official account of the incident. They feel that extra bullets at the crime scene, controversial autopsy results and destroyed evidence all point to a second gunman. Conspiracy Test: The RFK Assassination, 2007
One bullet passed harmlessly through his clothes. But three others had pierced his body, one causing a severe head-wound. He was rushed to hospital. ibid.
The first thing that came under scrutiny was the number of bullets fired. The Prosecution’s case was that Sirhan Sirhan on his own had fired a .22-caliber revolver. A gun that could only hold eight rounds. But many people at the scene believed more than eight shots had been fired. ibid.
The Senator’s autopsy: the autopsy was performed by Los Angeles Coroner, Doctor Thomas Noguchi. His findings did not support the open and shut case the LAPD presented. Doctor Noguchi found deeply embedded powder-burns on Robert Kennedy’s ear, and power residue in his hair. This suggested that the fatal shot was fired from a distance no further than four centimetres. ibid.
Part-time security guard Thane Eugene Cesar had been hired to work at the event. Cesar was behind Kennedy when the shots were fired. Cesar’s story changed several times after the event ... He did own a 22-calibre revolver. Information he didn’t initially share ... The police didn’t confiscate Cesar’s gun. They had only one gun to test – Sirhan’s. ibid.
If bullets were recovered from walls and doors, it would suggest that more rounds were fired than could come from Sirhan’s gun. ibid.
They [LAPD] had destroyed evidence after Sirhan’s trial. They incinerated photos and destroyed a door frame, a room divider and ceiling tiles from the hotel pantry that may have contained bullet-holes. ibid.
The Pruszynski tape ... He was at the Ambassador hotel that fateful night ... Prusynski was using what was at the time a fairly new piece of technology: an audio cassette recorder. When Senator Kennedy finished his speech Pruszynski retrieved his equipment ... With two independent tests showing at least ten shots on the Pruszynski tape, evidence for the second gunman theory is mounting. And what about the shots that are only one hundred and twenty milliseconds apart? ibid.
Several people reported seeing a woman in a polka-dot dress just before and after the assassination. One witness, Sandra Serrano, told the authorities that a woman wearing polka-dots passed her on a fire escape outside the ballroom; she claimed the woman was saying, ‘We shot him. We shot him.’ When Serrano asked the woman, ‘Who did you shoot?’ She responded by saying, ‘Senator Kennedy.’ ibid.
Bobby Kennedy’s autopsy showed the fatal bullet was fired into the back of his head at an upward angle from point-blank range. Which would mean Sirhan couldn’t have done it. Conspiracies: The Kennedys
Thane Cesar has since disappeared but he is thought to be living somewhere in the Philippines. But if he is a prime suspect, Sirhan’s role remains a mystery. Witnesses spoke of a glazed expression in his eyes. And Sirhan still claims to remember nothing of the shooting. In a diary he kept in the months before, he’d written the phrase Mind Control, Mind Control, Mind Control. Psychiatrists who interviewed him later became convinced he’d been hypnotised. ibid.
Dr William Joseph Bryan was the head of the American Institute of Hypnosis based in Los Angeles. And guess what: he also worked for the CIA. In the 1970s William Bryan fell into a depression. He began drinking heavily, ate too much and often spent time with prostitutes. Two of his favourite girls used to boost his ego by asking him about the famous people he had hypnotised. More than once he confessed to them that he had programmed Sirhan Sirhan on behalf of the CIA. In 1977 William Bryan was found dead in a Las Vegas motel room. ibid.
