In 1989 Melvette was raped at knifepoint in the home of a man she did not know. Anthony Sowell was convicted of the rape of Melvette Sockwell. He served 15 years in prison. Released in 2005 he moved to 12205 Imperial Avenue in Cleveland. On October 29 2009 four decomposing bodies were found on his third floor. Another two bodies were found in his basement. And five more were found buried in his backyard. For three years women in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood had been disappearing.
