★ Wise & Wisdom

And the king said, Bring me a sword.  And they brought a sword before the king.

 

And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.

 

Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it.  But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.

 

Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.

 

And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.  I Kings 3:16-28

 

 

And those officers provided victual for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month: they lacked nothing.

 

Barley also and straw for the horses and dromedaries brought they unto the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge.

 

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

 

And Solomons wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

 

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.

 

And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.

 

And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.  I Kings 4:27-33

 

 

And the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.  I Kings 5:12

 

 

And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomons wisdom ... There was no more spirit in her.  I Kings 10:4

 

 

So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom.  I Kings 10:23

 

 

No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.  Job 12:2

 

 

With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.  Job 12:12

 

 

Hast thou heard the secret of God?  And dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

 

What knowest thou, that we know not?  What understandest thou, which is not in us?  Job 15:8&9

 

 

But where shall wisdom be found?  Job 28:12

 

 

No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.  Job 28:18

 

 

Whence then cometh wisdom?  And where is the place of understanding?  Job 28:20

 

 

And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.  Job 28:28  

 

 

Great men are not always wise.  Job 32:9

 

 

Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.  Job 37:24

 

 

For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

 

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.  Proverbs 2:7&8

 

 

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.  Proverbs 3:13

 

 

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

 

Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

 

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.  Proverbs 4:5-7

 

 

For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

 

I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.  Proverbs 8:11&12

 

 

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.   

 

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.  Proverbs 9:9&10

 

 

A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.  Proverbs 10:1

 

 

In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

 

Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.  Proverbs 10:13&14

 

 

It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.  Proverbs 10:23

 

 

He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.  Proverbs 11:12

 

 

A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.  Proverbs 12:8

 

 

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

 

A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.

 

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.

 

Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.  Proverbs 14:1&6&16&33

 

 

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!  And to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

 

The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

 

Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

 

The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.  Proverbs 16:16&21-23

 

 

Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.  Proverbs 17:24

 

 

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.  Proverbs 19:8

 

 

When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.

 

A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.

 

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord.  Proverbs 21:11&22&30

 

 

Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.  Proverbs 23:9

 

 

Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.  Proverbs 23:23

 

 

Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:  

 

A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.

 

For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
