Once weapons were manufactured to fight wars.  Now wars are manufactured to sell weapons.  Arundhati Roy

Weapons are the way to peace.  Nato general secretary Jens Stoltenberg, Davos 2023

If you don’t cut the weapons line, wars will go on.  Robert Fisk, This is Not a Movie, 2019

Every man, woman and child lives under a nuclear Sword of Damocles, hanging by the slenderest of threads, capable of being cut at any moment by accident, or miscalculation, or by madness.  The weapons of war must be abolished before they abolish us.  John F Kennedy, speech to UN September 1961

I keep various weapons strategically placed throughout the office.  The Office US s4e11: Survivor Man, Michael to Jim, NBC 2007

Every Halloween I tell them the same thing: you can’t bring weapons into the office.  The Office US s8e5: Spooked, Toby

Here’s what we can do to change the world right now to a better ride: take all of that money we spend on weapons and defence each year and instead spend it feeding, clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, and not one human being excluded, and we can explore space together, both inner and outer, in peace.  I believe that God left certain drugs growing naturally upon our planet to help speed up and facilitate our evolution.  Bill Hicks, Revelations, Dominion Theatre, London

We know he armed Iraq.  I wondered about that too – during the Persian Gulf War those intelligence reports would come out – Iraq incredible weapons, incredible weapons.  How do you know that?  Well, we looked at the receipt.  But as soon as that cheque clears we’re going in.  ibid.

Every one of your papers says you guys sold Iraq ‘machine tools’ which Iraq then converted ... Our papers in the States have the same thing: we sold Iraq ‘farming equipment’ which Iraq then converted ... It was a chicken coup, it’s now a nuclear reactor.  ibid.

Repeatedly, the US has sponsored the development of weapons systems that could pose serious dangers to its welfare or even survival, and has dismissed opportunities to abort such developments.  Noam Chomsky, Deterring Democracy

The United Nations General Assembly, speaking for the ‘community of nations’ voted a series of disarmament resolutions.  It voted 154-1, with no abstentions, opposing the build-up of weapons in outer space (Reagan’s Star Wars) and 135-1 against developing new weapons of mass destruction.  The Assembly voted 143-2 for a comprehensive test ban, and 137-3 for a halt to all nuclear test explosions.  The US voted against each resolution, joined in two cases by France and one by Britain.  None of this was reported in the Free Press, the ‘community of nations’ being irrelevant when it fails to perceive the Truth.  ibid.

If there’s a man selling a private arsenal to an Egyptian crook and he’s English, and you’re English, and those weapons could cause a lot of pain to a lot of people then you just do it.  Anyone would do it.  The Night Manager I, BBC 2016, novel John Le Carre, starring Tom Hiddleston & Hugh Laurie & Olivia Colman & Tom Hollander & Elizabeth Debicki & Alistair Petrie & Natasha Little & Douglas Hodge & David Harewood & Tobias Menzies & Antonio de la Toree et al, director Susanne Bier, Jonathan

Bush staged a grand photo opportunity at NASA, using the American Space Program as a grand charade, making a speech from NASA headquarters about the future exploration of space.  But the speech by George W Bush is not about the exploration of space, it is more about the exploitation of space.  The US government has weaponised space.  Chris Everard, Secret Space II

There is no evidence Homo Erectus made spears ... Their palms faced forwards.  Planet of the Apemen: Battle for Earth I BBC 2011

The spear wasnt our ancestors only weapon.  At some point in the distant past they developed something very new: the slingshot like the spear gave our ancestors the ability to strike and kill at a distance.  ibid.

We’ll spend the next hundred millennia perfecting weapons that kill at a distance.  Mankind: The Story of All of Us I, History Channel 2012

Hunting requires conscious planning and organisation by means of language as well as special weapons.  Jacob Bronowski, The Ascent of Man 1/3: Lower Than The Angels, BBC 1973

The sword is the weapon of the samurai.  Jacob Bronowski, The Ascent of Man 4/13: The Hidden Structure

Can the mind become our most powerful weapon?  The US Army investigates the paranormal asking if future conflicts could be fought using mind control.  Weird or What? s1e7: Mind Control War, Discovery 2004

JOSHUA is a project to develop a low frequency pulsed sound generating weapon.  It is said that this weapon would be effective against the alien craft and beam weapons.  Bill Cooper, Operation Majority, material released 31st May 1996

EXCALIBUR is a weapon to destroy the alien underground bases.  It is a missile capable of penetrating 1,000 meters of Tufa/hard packed soil such as that found in New Mexico with no operational damage.  Missile apogee not to exceed 30,000 feet.  AGL and impact must not deviate in excess of 50 meters from designated target.  The device will carry a 1-megaton nuclear warhead.  ibid.

All these descriptions of sophisticated weaponry sounds almost like science fiction.  But is it really?  Because we have those weapons today!  And I think it merely a reinvention of history that all this stuff we have has been around before, and our past is not science fiction but science fact.  Giorgio A Tsoukalos
