As of March 2026, Boeing’s commercial airplanes division has not turned a profit since 2018, losing an estimated $40 billion over that period. In August or 2025, Boeing settled John ‘Swampy’ Barnett’s whistleblower lawsuit for an undisclosed sum. A second lawsuit against Boeing, for wrongful death, remains pending. In November of 2025 the Department of Justice dropped its criminal case against Boeing for the 737 Max crashes.
