★ UFO (I)

The three most common types of UFOs:

UFO type #1: Metallic saucer: solid shape, rarely filmed, often only one at a time, footage often proves fake.

UFO type #2: The Glowing Orbs: not solid, very common, often appear/disappear, able to move at very high speed, often appear in swarms, often filmed by NASA, often change shape/colour.

UFO type #3: The Space Serpents/Snake: often change shape, often change colour, often appear/disappear.  Conspiratus

Round the world we are encountering a strange phenomenon.  They are known as mystery lights.  They appear without warning or explanation sometimes moving at frightening speeds.  Ghost Lights Mystery

Dr Friedemann Freund of NASA studies mystery lights like the one seen just before the 1995 devastating earthquake in Kobi, Japan.  Specifically it was this photograph that caught his attention.  Dr Freund quickly learns that it isn’t the only instance of strange lights cited in conjunction with earthquakes.  They’ve also occurred half way round the world in Peru ... And this photograph taken in the middle of the night in Matsushiro, Japan, in 1966.  ibid.

Thousands of kilometres away in a remote valley – Hessdalen in Norway – scientists also believe the lights could come from some unknown energy source.  But these lights travel at amazing speed.  And have even touched the ground.  Of all the mystery light sightings around the world, some of the most spectacular occur in a remote valley in central Norway.  ibid.

But recently declassified documents – Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon in the UK Air Defence Region: Executive Summary: Scientific & Technical Memorandum No. 55/2/00 – may hold the answers ... ‘The phenomena occur on a daily, world-wide basis’.  ibid.

For perhaps hundreds of years based upon Native American legends people have seen these strange multi-coloured spheres of light moving on and around this ridge and in these mountains.  Joshua Warren, author & paranormal investigator

During the Second World War there was a phenomenon that was very very similar to the ghost lights – it became known as the Foo Fighters ... They seem to exhibit some sort of intelligence.  Nick Redfern, author & investigator

And the Air Force wanted to catch one.  As sightings increased so did the mood of alarm.  The public feared an invasion of little green men from the red planet Mars.  But the military feared a red invasion of a different kind.  Conspiracies – Extraterrestrials

‘The look at the evidence and what they find is that now the UFOs turn out to be natural phenomena.’  Riddle of the Skies s1e1: Is There Anybody Out There? Josh Shostak, Discovery 1999

Unidentified flying objects have been seen in the skies since the beginning of time.  ibid.

In Germany more than 30 years later strange balls of light were again seen in this sky but this time they were stationary and both witnessed and photographed by hundreds of people: it happened at Greifswald on the Baltic sea.  ibid.

Mexico: There have been more UFO sightings in the last five years than anywhere else in the world.  ibid.

There are unidentified flying objects in space … Is there something going on in space we’re not being told?  ibid.

Unidentified flying objects are not always seen from the ground.  Increasingly, pilots are reporting sightings from the air and they are prepared to talk about them.  Riddle of the Skies s1e2: The Evidence on Earth

There is evidence in this recently declassified Air Force document that saucer-shaped aircraft were on the drawing boards of America’s Technical Intelligence Center.  ibid.

It’s not inconceivable that at the height of the Cold War the American military found in the UFO phenomenon a ready-made cover story for the many secret activities that they were involved in.  ibid.

The world of Black Projects is shrouded in mystery.  ibid.

Are UFOs really extraterrestrial or are there rational explanations for the phenomenon closer to home?  Riddle of the Skies III: Is ET Here?

There’s an acute shortage of tangible evidence.  ibid.

Blurred images: their provenance is often unknown.  ibid.

The scientific world at large is in for a shock when it becomes aware of the astonishing nature of the UFO phenomenon and its bewildering complexity.  I make that terse comment well aware that it invites easy ridicule; but intellectual honesty demands that I make clear that my two years study convinces me that in the UFO problem lie scientific and technological questions that will challenge the ability of the world’s outstanding scientists to explain – as soon as they start examining the facts.  James McDonald, statement to House Committee

James McDonald became fascinated with the controversy of UFO studies.  And the more his fascination grew the more he realised that these cases had to be investigated.  Bill Birnes, publisher UFO Magazine
